Notta vs Otter

Checked October 20, 2026

Checked October 20, 2026. Notta's figures are from notta.ai/en/pricing, on the monthly and annual toggles. Otter's figures are from otter.ai/pricing, on both toggles. TurboScribe is quoted from its listing, last checked October 19, 2026.

Two meeting tools

Notta transcribes live meetings and uploaded files, with speaker labels and AI summaries. Free is $0 and does not ask for a card: 120 transcription minutes a month, up to 3 minutes per conversation, 50 file uploads a month, and 10 AI summaries. The comparison table says the quota does not carry over. Pro is $13.49/month, or $8.17/month billed annually ($97.99 a year): 1,800 minutes, up to 5 hours per recording, 100 uploads, and 100 summaries. Business is $27.99/month, or $16.67/month billed annually ($199.99 a year), with unlimited transcription and a 5-hour cap per recording. The annual toggle is labeled 40% off.

Otter.ai joins Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet and writes meeting notes. Basic is free: 300 transcription minutes a month, 3 lifetime audio or video file imports, and 30 minutes per conversation. Those minutes do not roll over, and history keeps the 25 most recent conversations. Pro is $16.99 per user per month billed monthly, or $8.33 per user per month on the annual toggle, which the page labels save 51%. Pro includes 1,200 minutes, 10 file imports a month, and 90 minutes per meeting. On the monthly toggle, Business shows $30 per user per month and $24, with the note 20% off for 3 months. The annual toggle shows Business at $19.99 per user per month, labeled save 33%, with unlimited meetings and up to 4 hours per meeting.

A conversation is not an episode

Notta's free cap is 3 minutes per conversation. Otter's free cap is 30 minutes per conversation, and only 3 file imports in the life of the account. A finished hour-long episode does not fit in either free plan. Notta Pro is the first of the two that takes a 5-hour file. Otter Pro stops a meeting at 90 minutes. Otter Business is the plan that reaches 4 hours.

The notes from both tools are meeting notes: speakers, a summary, follow-ups. That is the right shape for a guest call or a pitch. It is a weak public description of a show. The Best AI tools for podcast show notes page is the next step when the transcript has to become a title and chapters. The Transcription and show notes list is the rest.

When the file is the whole job

TurboScribe is the file transcriber in this comparison, quoted from its listing of October 19, 2026. Free covers 3 files a day of up to 30 minutes. Unlimited is $20/month, or $10/month billed yearly, and a paid file can be 10 hours. You get text, speaker labels, and a caption file. You do not get meeting notes. Use Notta or Otter when the source is a call they can join. Use TurboScribe when the episode is already a file and the bill should not depend on the length.

Questions

Which free plan can transcribe a podcast episode?

Neither, if the episode is longer than half an hour. Notta Free stops at 3 minutes per conversation. Otter Basic stops at 30 minutes per conversation and allows 3 file imports in the life of the account. A full episode needs a paid plan, or a file transcriber with a longer free file.

Which paid plan takes a long interview?

Notta Pro allows up to 5 hours per recording, at $13.49/month or $8.17/month billed annually. Otter Pro allows 90 minutes per meeting. Otter Business allows 4 hours per meeting. TurboScribe Unlimited, on its October 19 listing, allows a file up to 10 hours.

Do these tools write show notes?

They write a transcript and a meeting-style summary. Show notes are the title, the chapters, and the paragraph you publish. Use the transcript as the source for that writing.
