Reduct vs Descript

Checked October 26, 2026

Checked October 26, 2026 for Reduct, on reduct.video/pricing, with annual billing selected. Descript and Gling are quoted from their listings, last checked October 18, 2026.

A yearly hour pool, or media hours

Reduct prices the editor seat. With annual billing selected, Personal is $12 per editor per month and includes 120 hours of pooled transcription per year per editor. Professional is $40 per editor per month and includes 300 hours. The toggle says annual saves 20%. Month-to-month dollar amounts were not on that view. A 14-day trial includes Professional features and 5 hours of transcription. Overages are a-la-carte, and the page does not print the rate. Enterprise seat plans start at $75 per editor per month.

Descript, from the October 18 listing, prices media hours. Free includes 1 media hour a month and a watermarked 720p export. Hobbyist is $16/month billed annually ($24 month-to-month) with 10 media hours. Creator is $24/month annually ($35 monthly) with 30 media hours. You record or import, then cut by deleting words. Filler removal, Studio Sound, and captions sit in the same project.

Commenters, multicam, and the free hour

Reduct commenters can view, highlight, and comment without an editor seat. Personal includes up to 10. Professional includes up to 50, plus timeline and multicam, redaction, 2K export, the API, and files up to 75 GB. Personal stops at 720p and files up to 4 GB. There is no ongoing free plan.

Descript Free can edit about one media hour. That is the plan to open when you want to see the cut before a card. Gling, from the same October 18 check, is the other first pass on a talking-head video: it cuts silences and fillers, and the free plan is 1 hour a month with a watermark. The Best AI tools for filler words page is that comparison. Gling is not a transcript desk for a long interview.

Which recording you have

An interview or a multicam shoot, and a producer who needs to mark the take: Reduct. You are paying for seats and a yearly transcription pool. The Podcast editing list is the rest of the editors.

A solo episode, captions, and a rough clip pass in the same project: Descript. If the guest is remote and the local track is the point, the Descript vs Riverside page is the recorder comparison. Reduct does not host the show.
