Pixelcut vs Photoroom
Checked November 1, 2026. Pixelcut was read on pixelcut.ai/pricing. Photoroom is quoted from its listing, last checked October 31, 2026.
The cutout is the job
Pixelcut and Photoroom both take a still and remove the background, then let you expand the frame or generate a new one. Neither one sets type. A thumbnail still needs a second pass for the words, which is why the Best AI tools for YouTube thumbnails page starts from the picture and then the type.
Pixelcut's free card includes export without a watermark, with limited background removal and upscale. The commercial license is named on Pro and Business, not on Free. Photoroom's October 31 listing says the help center limits the free plan to personal, non-commercial use, and it does not name the free credit count. A sponsored thumbnail is a paid plan on Photoroom.
What the yearly cards print
Yearly billing was selected on Pixelcut. The switch says save 20%. Pro shows $10 struck and $8 per month billed yearly, with 600 AI credits a month, unlimited background removal and upscale, 3 team seats, and 1,000 batch exports a month. Business shows $30 struck and $24 per month billed yearly, with 3,600 AI credits a month, 10 seats, and 2,000 batch exports. $8 is 20% off $10, and $24 is 20% off $30. The comparison table then prints "Up to 180000/mo" in the last credits cell, which does not match 3,600. A help article still names Pro, Pro+, and Max.
Photoroom's October 31 listing, with VAT included: Pro is $12.99/month or $89.99/year, and the yearly card shows $7.50/month, which matches $89.99 divided by 12, rounded. Max is $34.99/month or $250/year. The Max yearly card shows $20.99/month, and $250 divided by 12 is $20.83, so that per-month figure does not match the yearly total. On a paid Photoroom plan, background removal does not spend credits, within fair use. Pixelcut says the same about background removal and upscale on Pro and Business.
Which bill is the smaller one
If you need a watermark-free cutout before you know the tool, Pixelcut Free is the one that says the export has no watermark. Confirm the commercial line before a sponsored thumbnail. Photoroom's free plan, from the October 31 listing, is personal use.
If you are already paying, Pixelcut Pro at $8/month billed yearly is the smaller published yearly rate. Photoroom Pro yearly is $89.99, shown as $7.50/month. Those two yearly rates are close, and Photoroom's Max card does not divide cleanly, so read the checkout total. The Thumbnail and image generation list has the generators when the job is a new picture rather than a cutout.
