Cutback vs FireCut
Checked November 2, 2026. Cutback was read on cutback.video/premiere-assistant/pricing, on the yearly toggle and then the monthly toggle. FireCut is quoted from its listing, last checked October 31, 2026. Descript is quoted from its listing, last checked October 18, 2026.
Two Premiere plugins, two meters
Cutback sells Premiere Assistant. Starter is $0, with transcription and silence removal each capped at 3 uses a month. On the yearly toggle, Lite is $8/month for 3 transcription hours and 10 silence removals, Basic is $13/month for 20 hours and 30 silence removals, and Pro is $30/month for 30 hours with unlimited silence removal. The struck-through prices on that toggle were $9, $15, and $35. The monthly toggle showed those three figures, and its checkout links use cycle=monthly, while the caption under the price still read billed yearly. Prices are before tax.
FireCut, from the October 31 listing, is the other Premiere plugin in this directory. Starter is $19/month, or $10/month billed yearly, and it is the silence cut. Pro is $34/month, or $20/month billed yearly, with 25 transcription hours, captions, podcast automatic editing, clip highlights, and filler cleanup. Max is $59/month, or $39/month billed yearly, with 100 hours. The page offers a 7-day trial. It does not list a permanent $0 plan. The FireCut vs TimeBolt page is the comparison with a desktop app that is not a plugin.
What the paid plan is actually selling
Cutback Basic is where multicam, up to 3 cameras, and caption translation start. Pro removes the cap on silence removal and on caption translation, and it registers a second device. Starter can show you the cut. A weekly video podcast that runs the silence pass on every episode will leave Starter.
FireCut's podcast assembly and filler cleanup start at Pro, not at the silence-only Starter. If the job is ums as well as pauses, that is the line on the October 31 listing. Cutback's page names silence removal, not a separate filler-word product. Descript, from the October 18 listing, is the path when you do not already own Premiere: Free includes 1 media hour, and Hobbyist is $16/month billed annually.
Which bill is the smaller one
Cutback Lite yearly is $8/month for the silence pass and 3 transcription hours. FireCut's yearly silence plan, from the October 31 listing, is $10/month, and it is not free. Cutback Starter is the one you can open without a card. The monthly caption on Cutback still disagrees with the checkout cycle, so read the card total before you subscribe.
A show that is not in Premiere does not need either plugin. Descript edits the transcript in its own project. The Podcast editing list has the editors that are not Premiere add-ons.
